DM7020 HD features new Enigma2 licence

Dream Multimedia is expanding its product portfolio in the shape of the new DM7020 HD, available in the trade as of 21 October. With the DM7020 HD, Dream will be introducing a new licence for the use of the Einigma2 operating system, developed by Dream. At the same time, the company will be reinforcing its activities to combat illegal Dreambox pirate copies.

The DM7020 HD features a white OLED display on the front panel, as well as a flexible tuner concept. The new Dreambox provides two slots for plug’n’play tuners. As standard, the DM7020 HD will be supplied with an HDTV enabled DVB-S2 tuner as well as with the hybrid tuner, developed by Dream, for digital cable (DVB-C) and antenna reception (DVB-T).

Users can install a commercially available 3.5 inch hard disk drive or they can connect an external storage device to one of the three USB 2.0 interfaces provided, converting the Dreambox into a fully functional hard disk drive recorder (PVR).

As a result of this feature, the DM7020 HD can be used as a home server, distributing videos, music or pictures to any device anywhere in the home. To this end, the Dreambox features a 10/100 Mbit Ethernet interface. A WLAN stick is supplied to enable wireless connections in the home network. „No matter whether you are using television or the Internet as a source, the hybrid media world becomes reality with the DM7020 HD“, says Dream spokesperson Alpaslan Karasu.

The new licence for the utilization of Enigma2 comes into effect with the launch of the DM7020 HD. As before, private use will continue to be possible without any restrictions, this is specifically what Dream Multimedia is trying to achieve. As the owner of the rights in Enigma2, Dream will be significantly curtailing the use of the system by competitors in the market with immediate effect.

The readers of DIGITAL FERNSEHEN, HD+TV, DIGITAL TESTED as well as of the online platform digitalfernsehen.de have reached a verdict: Readers voted the DM8000 HD PVR resp. the DM800 HD into first place in the categories HDTV CI receiver and HDTV PVR receiver respectively. „This choice confirms our products fully fulfill the expectations of consumers in terms of how they prefer to consume media contents in a digital world“, says Dream spokesperson Alpaslan Karasu with a happy smile when he heard of the accolades.

These were not the only awards Dream Multimedia picked up at the awards ceremony held at the end of April in the new home of the Auerbach publishing house in Leipzig/Germany. In addition, the leading producer of Linux-based set-top boxes also was awarded second place in the competition for the „Campaign of the Year“. In this, readers decided which advertising campaign of the past year they liked best. „It is very gratifying to know readers find our advertisements appealing, and do not just skip over them“, said Karasu.

At the same time he announced that, on the one hand, the range of products is to be developed further. „We will be showing the next step at the Anga Cable show, the DM7020 HD and its flexible tuner concept”, says Karasu. On the other hand, he also plans to implement “slightly different” advertising ideas in future. „Next year, we want to take the first place in this category as well“, says the Dream spokesperson with a gleam in his eye, looking forward to the readers’ choice competition of the Auerbach publishing house next year.

While Dreambox announced its return to the market successfully in the shape of the DM520, the new DM525 goes even better: The successor to the DM520 additionally features a CI slot, which completes the innovative technical features of the new Dreambox, a facility that was frequently requested by many customers. The DM525 is available in the trade with immediate effect for satellite, cable and terrestrial reception (DVB-T2 with H.265 support), additionally, it supports the Sat>IP standard. At a recommended retail price of only 149 Euros, the DM525 compares very favourably with comparable Linux-based digital receivers. The DM525 is simply streets ahead of similar Linux receivers both in terms of features and pricing: inside, the new Dreambox is equipped with the latest generation Broadcom chip set (BCM 73625), ensuring ultra-fast channel switching times and very smooth navigation. The 512 MB flash memory of the DM525 is twice the size of the 256 MB memory typically fitted in compact boxes. In addition, the OE2.2-Plugin „IPTV“, due for release shortly, provides access to streaming networks, and with that to countless IPTV stations both domestically and internationally.
The back panel features the Ethernet port, the HDMI output, two USB interfaces and a Mini-USB service port as well as the CI slot. The front panel of the DM525 features the famous Touch On/Off sensor, which was introduced in the DM520, and caused quite a stir. As was the case with the DM520, the DM525 is a real looker, with its clearly structured, modern design. The technical features are state-of-the-art, ensuring great viewing pleasure, with brilliant TV images rich in contrast, both in SD and HD quality.
